Through the Back Alley

The alley was definitely not Devi’s ideal way home, but she had nothing else to trust other than her scrambled homing instincts, a vague map her memory had conjured based on what parts of the city she had been able to see from the window from her owner’s apartment, and the bits and pieces of unreliable street-wise that the scrawny heap of fur and fleas behind her offered.

“You really picked a bad place to end up, housecat.” The alley cat muttered, glancing over his shoulder out of habit in a way that made Devi’s fur prickle uneasily. “Tuesdays are NOT days you want to be out roaming the city, eh, Squeegee.”

The mottled brown kitten squeaked in surprise, his ears flattening against his skull as his grip on the larger cat’s leg tightened. “Squeee...”
“Yeah, aliens.” Devi rolled her eyes as Nny gave a defiant nod, as thought that in itself backed up his insanity. This cat had definitely taken a few too many boots to the head.


Okay, i drew a picture of Nny as a cat for a contest the other day, and i loved the style of it so much that i started trying to perfect it. this was pretty much the end result! I started with Devi, then added Johnny, and then Squee. then, grudgingly, the background.

Devi is a housecat. she's a pet to an artist (which is probably why her fur was dyed purple. it didnt look right any other colour) and has lived her whole life overlooking a city that she's never actually seen from the window in her apartment.

Then, one day, her owner leaves the door open, and Devi takes it as her chance to explore the world she's always wanted a taste of. what she got, instead, was a fearful shock as she promptly got lost in the back alleys with no idea of how to survive.

At least, until she met Johnny. Wiley, ferocious, and well known amongst the other alley cats as 'quite a dangerous bastard, and probably a bit of a fag too', he finds Devi inside a cardboard box, looking dishevelled and totally depressed, and, as bleedign hearts would have it, offers her temporary protection until they can find her apartment.

stopping, of course, to pick up the abandoned-for-the-fiftieth-time kitten Squee, who was just dumped inside a box on the side of the road again.


i dunno. too many ideas, too little time.
